John Russell Seabloom, 99, of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Silvis Center, Silvis.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hampton Cemetery, with military honors. Memorials may be made to Swedona Lutheran Church.
John was born on December 22, 1926, in Lynn Center, IL, the son of Arland and Martha (Sandstedt) Seabloom. He married Patricia Stephenson on April 7, 1951, she preceded him in passing in 2003. He retired from John Deere Harvester as a machinist. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army. John was very active in his community, being a vital member of several groups including: Svithiod Club, Moline, Vikings Club of Moline, Moose Club, and Rock Island Conservation Club, and being a volunteer at the Rock Island County fairgrounds. Every Friday he could be found playing cribbage with his friends at the Svithiod Club. Most of all he was very family-oriented, making sure he was always there for events, activities, and cherishing time with loved ones.
John is survived by his children, John S. Seabloom, Debbie Myers, and Julie (Dale) Killen; grandchildren, Keith Russell, Stephen (Cathy) Russell, and Megan (David Luten) Russell; great grandchildren, Tyler Russell, Alexis Russell, Kerana (David) Green, Kitana (Cody) Goodman, Kameron Luten, and Kordai Luten; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Vermost; sister-in-law, Liz Seabloom; brother-in-law, Don Morse; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Seabloom; parents; great-great grandson, David Green Jr.; son-in-law, John Myers; siblings, Kathryn Kunert, Arline Wheeler, Genevieve Swanson, Arland R. Seabloom, Elaine Sward, Janet Larson, and Ted Seabloom; and special friend, Rita Clements.
John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Beacon of Hope Hospice for their care and compassion while taking care of John.
