John J. Smith, 52, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, May 13, 2019, at UnityPoint, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2-5 pm Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Mausoleum East Moline. John was born February 20, 1967, in Vinton, IA, the son of Stephen R. and Ronda Miller Smith. He married Julie Jablon June 2, 1990, in East Moline. He worked as a process engineer for Lewis Machine and Tool, Milan, IL. In his younger years John had been an avid bike rider. He taught tumbling at KSDT were he met his future wife. He had a passion for all things technology. He loved flying remote control airplanes and could mechanically fix any car. He enjoyed fishing in Brethren MI, with his friends. He was a loving son, husband, father, and uncle who gave everything to his family. Survivors include his wife, Julie; children, Donald Ince III, Kewanee, IL, and Stephen A. Smith, East Moline; mother, Ronda Smith, Silvis, IL, sister, Holly Smith, East Moline; nephew, Bryce Allison; all his wonderful and amazing friends; and his loving dog, Bagel. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Jimmy Smith; and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorials may be made to the family.
