Funeral services for John W. "Bill" Stoneburner, 89, East Moline, are 12 Noon Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to the services. Mr. Stoneburner died Tuesday, December 05, 2006 at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. He was born September 4, 1917 in Davenport, IA, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stoneburner. He married Dorothy Whitmarsh in 1942. She died in 1962. He married Esther Muecke Versluis in 1964. Mr. Stoneburner worked as a tool maker and a machinist, retiring from John Deere Foundry in 1981. He served in US Army during WWII. He enjoyed bowling, golf and boating. Survivors include his wife Esther, step daughter and son-in-law Carol and Bob Ballard, Davenport, grandson and wife Mark and B.J. Ballard, and great grandsons; Kyle and Ryan.
