Funeral Mass for John L. VandeWiele, 83, of Silvis, IL, will be 11am Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Anyone attending is expected to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines. Private Entombment services will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when there are no Covid restrictions.

John passed away Wednesday December 30, 2020, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers and most recently with complications due to Covid 19.

John was born November 11, 1937, in Moline, IL, the son of Alberic and Mary (Martens) VandeWiele. He married Barbara Verleye June 2, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He attended Black Hawk College, Moline. He retired from the former International Harvester in 2001, after 46 years of service. After retirement he was a consultant for Case/New Holland for an additional 10 years. He traveled internationally extensively for his work and was awarded several patents. He was a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) serving in various roles including president. He was president of IH Managerial/Salary Club. He was also active coaching his sons' sports. He was president of Washington School Dad's Club. His interest included golf, hiking in Arizona, and fishing. During retirement he enjoyed living by the Mississippi River and their residence in Arizona.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, John (Mari) VandeWiele, Estero, FL, and Matt (Jennifer) VandeWiele, Dunlap, IL; grandchildren, Sean, Katie, Mark, Ryan, and Jacob; step grandchildren, Alli and Reid; and brother Jerry (Jeanne) VandeWiele, Colona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert (Ann) VandeWiele.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
