Funeral services for John VanHoutte, 68, of Colona, IL, will be 1:00PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Dayton Corners, Colona. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Monday at the funeral home. John died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to the Colona Fire Department. John was born April 16, 1944 in Moline, IL, the son of Frank and Mary VanAcker VanHoutte. He was a graduate of Orion High School Class of 1962. He married Bonnie Miller September 1, 1967 in Cambridge, IL. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline in 1999, after 37 years of service. John loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and their activities. He enjoyed going to the Track-N, Carbon Cliff, IL, where he had many friends and was known as "Mr. One More." John and Bonnie enjoyed wintering in Gulf Shores, AL, with all their new friends. He will be missed by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie VanHoutte, Colona; daughter, Julie (Gary) Gagnon, Colona; sons, Brad (Celeste) VanHoutte, Geneseo and Scott (Cassandra) VanHoutte, Colona; grandchildren, Marcus and Sommer Gagnon, Brooke, Jordan, and Taylor VanHoutte, and Bryson VanHoutte; sister, Mary Rizzolo, Coal Valley, IL; brothers, Frank VanHoutte, CA, Joe (Linda) VanHoutte, Moline, IL, and Emil (Bonnie)VanHoutte, Coal Valley. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Patricia Meirhaeghe and Frances Gelande, and brother, Art VanHoutte.
