Funeral services for John C. Vermeulen, 69, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Thursday at the funeral home. John died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. John was born September 12, 1938 in Moline, IL, the son of Fred and Alice (VandeGenachte) Vermeulen. He married June Paytash February 17, 1962 in East Moline. He had owned and operated Vermeulen Tree Farm, Geneseo for 23 years. He retired from John Deere Harvester in 1998 after 24 years of service. He enjoyed wintering in Texas with his wife. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather Survivors include; his wife, June Vermeulen of Silvis, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Greg Heaton of Geneseo, IL; son and daughter-in-law, John and Leanne Vermeulen of East Moline; grandchildren, Kelsey, Justin, and Kyle Heaton, Ryan and Colin Vermeulen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Rita Vermeulen of Lincoln, NE, Mike and Cynthia Vermeulen of Venice, FL and sister-in-law, Dolores Vermeulen of Garden Grove, CA.
