John H. Wochner, 78, of East Moline, IL, passed away Saturday September 16, 2023, at Generations, Rock Island, IL.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

John was born November 19, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of James and Agnes Stohlmeyer Wochner.  He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. John married Jacqueline "Jackie" Long on July 17, 1965, in Milan, IL.

He was a member of UAW Local 1309, and was employed at Farmall, then with the Corps of Engineers for 45 years. He retired in 2006.

John was an avid bowler. He was a Hall of Fame member and past president of the Moline-East Moline USBC BA. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and QC Mallards/QC Storm Hockey. In earlier years, he was a member of the former Moline Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Jackie, of East Moline; sons, Shane Wochner, East Moline, and Shawn (Christie) Wochner Carpentersville, IL; granddaughter, Emma Wochner; niece, Ann Horton, Rock Island; and special friends, Charlie and Diane Roth and Jim and Patti Hoogerwerf.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, JoAnn Diehl.
