Funeral services for John "Jack" H. Wright, 77, Port Byron, are 10:30 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is 3-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Private committal services will be held at a later date. Mr. Wright died unexpectedly on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. A memorial fund has been established. Jack was born January 31, 1932 in Moline, the son of John E. and Isabelle (Williams) Wright. He married Joy Larsen on February 14, 1953 at Elim Covenant Church, Moline. He was a tool and die maker by trade, retiring from Caterpillar, Inc. after 30 years of service as factory manager of the Davenport facility. Jack enjoyed working on the family farm, restoring antique tractors, fishing and his morning coffee with the guys, but there was nothing more special in his life than his grandchildren and spending time with his good friends. Survivors include Joy his wife of 56 years, children and spouses: John and Jan Wright, Hampton, Ken Wright, East Moline, Deb and Rick Sawyer, Clarence Iowa, Kevin and Sharron Wright, Hampton, Dave and Sue Wright, Hampton, and Joe and Vicki Wright, Silvis, nineteen grandchildren 8 great grandchildren and one on the way, sisters; Betty Kuhn, Denver, Grace McMahon, Moline, Mary Bjorling. Altoona, Illinois and a brother Harvey Wright, Bath, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents.
