Funeral services for John H. Ziegler, 95, of Crosstown Square, Silvis, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hampton Bluff, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Mr. Ziegler died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Little Lambs. John was born November 7, 1917 in Hampton, IL, the son of John and Emma Hintz Ziegler Sr. He was a graduate of United Township High School. He married Virginia Gulotta April 27, 1946 in Washington D.C. She died August 30, 1999. Mr Ziegler was an army veteran of WWII, where he served as a Combat Engineer in Europe. After the war he received training in accounting from Benjamin Franklin University, Washington D.C. He worked his entire career at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, in a variety of accounting and management positions. He retired in 1976. He enjoyed golf, gardening, bowling, and woodworking. Survivors include his son, John S. (Susan) Ziegler, Arlington Heights, IL; grandchildren, Jessica and Diana Ziegler; sister-in-law, Erma Ziegler, Moline. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Gladys (Arthur) Schroeder, Cleone (George) Gerhardt, and Darlene (Jack) Cramer, brothers, Everett (Erma) Ziegler and Eldon (Eleanora) Ziegler .
