Funeral services for Joseph M. "Pepe" DeLaRosa, 78, of Illinois City, IL, will be 10:00 AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday (today) at the funeral home. Private burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Mr. DeLaRosa died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Trinity Pathway Hospice. Mr. DeLaRosa was born March 11, 1929 in Moline, IL, the son of Librado and Mary (Moreno) DeLaRosa. He married Clara Esparza July 5, 1948 in Silvis, IL. She died August 4, 1961. He later married Genevieve "Jenny" James November 24, 1962 in Polo, IL. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, after 36 years of service. He enjoyed being around children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, such as gardening and fishing. He had a special talent sketching and drawing portraits. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jenny DeLaRosa of Illinois City; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Michael Carter of Milan, IL, Alice Montecino of Silvis, IL, Olivia (Benson) DeLaRosa, Nancy and Larry Pape of Morrison, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Michele DeLaRosa Jr. of Davenport, IA, Patrick and Michelle DeLaRosa of Omaha, Neb, Keith and Joy DeLaRosa of Omaha, Neb, Dennis and Corey DeLaRosa of Omaha, Neb, Robert Box of Sterling, IL; 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and William Tribbett of Colona, IL, Lucy DeLaRosa of East Moline, Rita Williams of Moline, IL, Esther and Luis Pizzano of Moline; brothers and sister-in-law, Manual and Nancy DeLaRosa of Phoenix, AZ, Charles and Colleen DeLaRosa of Hampton, IL, Leo DeLaRosa of Silvis. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, son, Octavious DeLaRosa, sisters-in-law, Carmen DeLaRosa and Judy DeLaRosa, brother-in-law, Larry Williams, son-in-law, Dennis Harridge.
