Funeral services for Joseph F. Dhondt, 76, of East Moline, IL, will be 1:00 PM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 PM Friday (today) at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 8:00PM. Mr. Dhondt died Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 3:20 PM, just after school got out. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Joseph F. Dhondt Scholarship at UTHS. Joe was born September 21, 1929 in East Moline, IL, the son of Theophiel and Leona (Huyvaert) Dhondt. He married Martha Polka, April 7, 1951 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. He was a teacher and coach at UTHS for over 35 years, retiring in 1987. He dedicated his love and life to his wife and family. Teaching and coaching at UTHS was his passion. He loved playing golf and jogging. Joe influenced many lives over the years and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Martha Dhondt of East Moline, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Bruce Wild of Moline, IL, Annette and Jim Wilson of Moline, IL, Roxann and Jeff Witt of Plainfield, IL, Jean and Scott Goebel of Silvis, IL, Kris and Larry Heiland of East Moline, IL; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Virginia Dhondt of East Moline, IL, Margaret Dhooge of Port Byron, IL He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margaret Slock, brothers, Mickey Dhooge and Phil Dhondt.
