Joseph W. England, 71, Moline, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Family and close friends will gather at 11 AM Saturday for memorial services. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Moline Foundation. Joe was born June 21, 1940 in Moline, the son of Mary (Walker) and Stanley B. England. He graduated from UTHS, and from the University of Illinois in 1962. He married Mary Jo Richter on October 26, 1963 in LaGrange, IL. Upon completion of school, Mr. England went to work for John Deere and devoted his entire career to the company. He was an avid golfer, playing for the UT Panthers, the Fighting Illini, and the rest of his life for himself. Joe was committed to several community groups including the Moline Foundation and Arrowhead Ranch. Sports and physical activity were important to Joe from playing basketball in high school to hiking in the mountains. He was proud to be an Illini Fan. Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Jo, daughters, Katie (Dan) Barber, Memphis, TN, Amy (Wade) Warthen, Littleton, CO, and Sarah England-McCullough, SanDiego, CA, grandchildren, Joseph, Annie, Emily and Will, and his sister Nancy (Owen) Stipp, Colona.
