Funeral services for Joseph F. Ybarra, 99, a resident of Heartland Health Center, Moline, and formerly of East Moline, are 10 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Mr. Ybarra died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or for masses. Joe was born March 19, 1909 in Silao, Mexico, the son of Pedro and Margarita Ybarra. He married Severina Garcia, June 13, 1942 in Silvis. She died September 5, 2005. Joe served in the US Army during WWII. He retired after 51 years from the Rock Island Lines as a section foreman in 1972. Following retirement he took up gardening. Joe was instrumental in the building of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and had served as a trustee there for many years. He had a great love for his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He had sung with the Handel Oratorio Society, the Augustana Choir and for weddings in earlier years. Joe was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and had many special pets over the years. Survivors include his children and spouses: Stephanie (Robert) McGriff, Moline, Mary (Larry) Wiemers, East Moline, Mary Ann Ybarra, Silvis, Corinne (Richard) Lineback, Iowa City, Joseph D. (Katherine) Ybarra, East Moline, Lawrence (Patricia) Ybarra, Buffalo Grove, IL, and Tony (Laura) Ybarra, East Moline. Grandchildren and spouses include; Heather McGriff, Lisa (Brian) Waggoner, Chad Ybarra, Anthony Ybarra, Rob Lineback, Kristen Lineback, Jeffrey (Trish) Ybarra, Christopher (Teresa) Ybarra, Stephanie Ybarra, Stacey (Jon) Briggs, Kathryn Ybarra, Sarah Ybarra and Steven Ybarra, a great granddaughter Hailey Briggs. He is also survived by a sister Felice Vogel, Rock Island and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Severina, daughter Elizabeth and seven brothers and sisters.
