Obituary

Memorial services for Joseph Thomas Lambrick Jr., 88, Silvis, are 12 Noon Friday at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Visitation is from 10 AM until service time. At Tom's request his body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Lambrick died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. He was born November 28, 1919 in Moline, the son of J. Thomas and Maude (Roberts) Lambrick Sr. He married Mildred Coleman on October 11, 1940 in East Moline. Tom had attended the university of Illinois and Augustana College. During WWII, Tom served in the OSS (the precursor of the CIA). He had worked as a deputy sheriff of Rock Island County, at John Deere Malleable and retired as office manager from Johnson's Sheet Metal, East Moline in the mid 1980's. Tom served as an alderman for the East Moline city council (the only Republican), was on the board of directors of the East Moline Grade Schools, was instrumental in the formation of the Association for Retarded Children and Adults, Rock Island County and was on the first State Board of Directors for Illinois ARC. Tom was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Trustee, with his wife he was active in the Mariners and served as Youth Group advisors and taught Sunday school. He was an avid rock collector, practical joker and had visited all 50 states except for Alaska. Survivors include his children and spouses Cathleen and John Runburg, East Moline, Linda and Jan Leonard, Moline, and Elizabeth Minssen, Silvis, and a son Tom Lambrick, Moline, grandchildren: Paul Sweet, Amy Deaton-Allman, Kurt Runburg, Gregg Runburg, Jon Runburg, Kirsten Runburg, Vicky Race, Morgan Brunstrom, Jake Leonard, Shane Leonard, Andrew Minssen and Arminda Minssen great grandchildren Austin Sweet, Melissa, Allison and Nick Deaton; Cindy, Riley and Jack Runburg; Elliott, Evan and Ethan Runburg, Koryn and Kevin Runburg; Stacy Race; Stephanie Reyes; Austin and Jade Leonard and Alyvia Roggenbauer and great-great grandchildren; Ray and Haley. He is preceded in death by his wife Mildred, parents, sisters Ruth VanTieghem and Mary Brownfield, an infant brother Robert, and a great grandson Danny Race.
