Graveside services for Joseph McMillin, 83, of Woodland Hills, CA, will be 9:00AM Thursday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, where military rites will be conducted. Anyonewishing to attend must be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline by 8:30 AM. Mr. McMillin died Friday, June 24, 2011 in California. Joseph was born November 30, 1927 in East Moline, IL, the son of Harry and Augusta McMillin. He graduated from UTHS in 1945. He worked at Knox Trucking and Stine the Taylor, East Moline. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. During his enlistment he had been stationed in California and upon his return to the United States he moved to California to live. Joseph retired from Bendome Liquor Sales as an accountant. He was a member of St. Mel's Catholic Church, Woodland Hills, CA. Survivors include his sister, Donna (Bill) Nelson of Silvis, IL; sister-in-law, Delores McMillin of Decator, IL; his special family in California, Francisco and Maricelo Vela and their children; his caregivers and friends, Carol Materna of Ohio and Belinda Gonzales of California; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Patricia Freymann, brothers, Arthur, Robert, Harry Jr., and Donald, 3 sisters-in-law, and niece, Sandra Freymann Bentley.
