Funeral services for Joseph J. Padilla, 83, Silvis, are 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, where the VFW 8890 and MAVA will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3PM. A memorial fund has been established. Joe died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Joe was born October 19, 1927 in DePue, IL, the son of Sabino and Barbara (Manriquez) Padilla. He served in the US Air Force as a Navigator during the Korean Conflict. He married Jennie DelaRosa on June 30, 1954. She died on September 6, 1968. He later married Elvira Carillo. He was an original member of the LULAC Club, Davenport, IA. Joe had worked for the Rock Island Lines, as an electrician at the Rock Island Arsenal, sold real estate, had his own construction company, and retired as an insurance agent from National Life. He had played the organ and the saxophone with the Los Reales and El Sol. Joe had a daily routine at the YMCA. Survivors include his children (spouses); Zach Padilla, Silvis, Ronald (Patricia) Padilla, Moline, Daniel Padilla, Silvis, David (Chari) Padilla, Princeton, IA and Joseph Padilla Jr., Davenport, grandchildren Marcus, Anthony, Matthew, Michael, Steven, Adam, Amber, Angela, and Zoey great granddaughter Kassandra, sisters; Sabrina Galindo, Princeton, IL, Mary Koplin, Peru, IL and Sophie Salerno, Kansas, brothers; Jessie "Chuy"Padilla, Barna, IL, Bob Padilla, LaSalle, and Salomon Padilla, Peru. And a son-in-law Roberto Reyes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jennie, daughter Andrea Reyes, sisters Lupe, Fern, and Angie, brother John and a granddaughter Elizabeth Padilla.
