Joseph R. "Joe" Williams, 53, of Rock Island, IL, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island. Private services were held at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Joe was born August 1, 1961, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Raymond and Joan Merkel Williams. He married Sheri Laktas October 17, 1997, in Rock Island. He had worked for Metz Baking, Moline, IL. He enjoyed golfing, listening and watching country music. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Blackhawks fan. Survivors include his parents, Raymond and Joan Williams, East Moline; sisters, Mary (Paul) Farron, Glen Beulah, WI, and Julie Palmer, East Moline; brother, Alan (Allene) Williams, East Moline; best friend, Sheri Williams, Moline; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and infant brother, Daniel Williams. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Robert Young Center, Rock Island.
