Funeral services for Joseph "Joe" Roels, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1:30PM. Mr. Roels died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Trinity Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, Alleman High School, or for masses. Joe was born July 12, 1925 in Moline, IL, the son of Paul and Madeline Neufcour Roels. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He married Barbara Teitink August 21, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. She died May 10, 2008. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Rock Island, received his Bachelors Degree from St. Ambrose College, and went on to receive his MBA from the University of Chicago. He retired from John Deere World Headquarter in 1982 as a Payroll Tax Administrator, after 32 years of service. He had been an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where he had been an Eucharistic Minister. He had been a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Legion of Honor, Alleman Booster Club, Hand n Hand Rolle Bolle, East End Club, Friends Circle Club, and Moline Viking Club. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and Green Bay Packer Fan. Survivors include his daughters, Cindy (Ron) Stein Newman, IL, Denise (Tom) Erps, Coal Valley, IL, and Melinda (Jim) Williams, Moline; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Albert Roels.
