Visitation will be 4-6 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Benson died Monday, July 07, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Joyce Shimkus was born June 19, 1940 in East Moline, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Stankunis) Shimkus. She married Alvin Benson December 19, 1983 in Rock Island, IL. She enjoyed watching soap operas. Survivors include: her husband, Alvin Benson of East Moline; brother, Charles Shimkus of Davenport, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents.
