Obituary

Joyce M. Charlson, 84, of East Moline, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at her cherished home, leaving behind a brilliant legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.

Born on July 25, 1941, in Moline, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Marcel and Grace (Vynke) DeMeyer. A proud member of the John Deere family, she dedicated over three decades to the purchasing production materials department, wrapping up her remarkable career in 1999. But it wasn’t just work that defined her; Joyce was an artist at heart, channeling her creativity into painting and nurturing her flourishing flower gardens. On cozy evenings, she'd settle in with a classic episode of *The Waltons* or *Little House on the Prairie*, savoring the values of family and the beauty of simple joys.

To honor and celebrate Joyce’s beautiful life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Silvis. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, East Moline. Friends and family will be welcomed during a visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline.

Joyce leaves behind her beloved children, John La Frentz II of East Moline, James LaFrentz of East Moline, Marie Charlson of Nashville, TN and Theresa (William) Sims of Orion, her adored grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony, Samantha, Kyahnnah, Jhada, Yevonna, Lauren, Ella, and Quinn, along with several great-grandchildren who brought her boundless joy; her sister, Betty DeMont, and her brothers-in-law, Ron Clevenger and Steve Trego. Joyce was welcomed into the arms of her loved ones who have gone before her: her parents; sisters, Marjorie Clevenger and Nancy Trego; and brother-in-law, Dwight DeMont.
