Funeral services for Joyce E. Pappas, 86, of Carbon Cliff, IL, will be noon, Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 11 am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Pappas passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, July 14, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Joyce Miller was born July 12, 1935, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Laurence and Alverna (Soseman) Miller. She was a graduate of United Township High School. She married Tom Pappas June 14, 1953, at Silvis Methodist Church. She was the the church secretary at Silvis Methodist Church for 35 years.

She was active in her church and community where she was a Girl Scout Leader, President of the PTA at Bowlesburg School, and the founder of the Senior Group at church. She loved playing cards. She and her husband loved to travel and enjoyed their cabin in Park Rapids, MN.

Survivors include her daughters, Paula Pappas, Moline, Tammie (David) Marriott, Sarasota, FL and Laura Hartzell, East Moline, grandchildren, Brandy Fisher, Allyson (Kyle) Coverdill, Alicia Hartzell and John Marriott; great grandchildren, Chase, Ayden, Brayden, Beckham, Bentley, Jackson, and Ryan Grace; and her sister, Marilyn (Ray) Damm, Silvis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
