Obituary

Juan V. Diaz, 58, lost his battle with cancer, Thursday morning, March 15, 2007 at his home in Moline, IL. The family will receive friends at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, Friday (today) from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorial services will be held Saturday at the Moline Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 5106 28th Ave Moline, English services will begin at 2:00 PM and Spanish services will be at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Juan V. Diaz was born February 23, 1949 in Weslaco, Texas. He was the loving son of Gregorio and Juanita (Vasquez) Diaz. Juan was united in marriage to Linda Gomez, June 22, 1970 in East Moline, IL. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Juan had worked at John Deere Harvester, East Moline for 32 years. He had also been an Insurance Agent for Prudential and Turner Vermost Agency, Moline. Juan wants to be remembered foremost as a faithful worshiper of Jehovah, devoted to his family and his extended family of Jehovah's Witnesses in congregations throughout the area. Juan's family and friends will always have fond memories of his zest for life, compassion towards others, his sense of humor, his courage in the face of adversity. Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Linda Diaz of Moline, daughters and son-in-law, Christina and Armando Hernandez of East Moline, Angie Hurtado of Harlingen, TX; son and daughter-in-law, John and Toni Diaz of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Alex, Marcos, Leydia, Nicholas, Miguel, Amaya, Aliya, and a grandson "on the way"; parents, Gregorio and Juanita Diaz of Davenport; sisters and brothers-in-law, Molly and Adrian Ortega of Davenport, IA, Maria and Javier Ramos of Davenport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg and Pam Diaz of Denver, CO, Joe and Sue Diaz of Davenport, Lupe and Lisa Diaz of Walcott, IA, Tony and Tracy Diaz of Davenport; mother-in-law, Terry Tafolla of East Moline; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Paula Sandoval of Bettendorf, IA; 18 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews.
