Juanita R. Philpot, 77, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her residence with her loving husband by her side.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church, Moline. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with services.

Juanita was born on September 6, 1948, in Galesville, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Primmer) Hunter. She married Rev. Ronald J. Philpot Sr. on September 5, 1970, in Rantoul, IL, they lovingly referred to each other as the “onies.” Juanita worked as a nurse’s assistant and held various jobs at restaurants. She was very passionate and active at her church and one of the leaders of the Women’s Missionary Union. Juanita also was an avid reader.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Rev. Ronald J. Philpot Sr.; daughter, Rustina (Robbie) Gibson; former son-in-law, Alan Hofacker; grandchildren, Heather Philpot, Tyler Philpot, Danielle (Patrick) Croyle, Erika Hofacker, Courtney Hofacker, and Alissynn Hofacker; great grandchildren, Noah, Anzel, Isadora, Beau, and Thomas; siblings, Kenneth Hunter, Wanda Plotner, Frank Hunter, and Irene Baker; and multiple nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald J. Philpot Jr.; and siblings, Walter Hunter, Donald Hunter, James Hunter, and Wilma Willis.
