Graveside services for Julia Batten, 91, of East Moline, IL, will be 10 am Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend should be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home by 9:30 am. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, April 20, at the funeral home. Mrs Batten passed away Thursday April 6, 2023, at Park Vista, East Moline.

Julia Ames was born February 19, 1932, in Moline, IL, the daughter Lawrence and Edna Meier Ames. She married Richard Batten February 20, 1954, at First Methodist Church, East Moline. He passed away January 13, 2015. Julia and Richard moved to Park Vista, East Moline, on May 1, 2014. She was a terrific animal lover. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and taking care of animals. Her life revolved around her husband, their sons and daughters-in-laws, and her grandchildren. She had been a member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline.

Survivors include sons, Bruce (Christine) Batten, Silvis, IL, and Bradley (Merrilee) Batten, Dixon, IL, grandchildren, Lara J. and Ryan M. Batten.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary McKnight and Jeanette Penn.

Memorials may be made to Animal Aid Humane Society 239 50th Street, Moline.
