Funeral services for Julia M. DeBlaey, 86, of Rapids City, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. Mrs. DeBlaey passed away Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Kahl Home, Davenport, IA.

Julia Depoorter was born April 22, 1938, in Moline, one of 14 children to Joseph and Julia Martha VandenBussche Depoorter. She married Robert DeBlaey July 14, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He passed away February 26, 2008.

Julia found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent baker and also enjoyed crocheting as a pastime. Julia loved getting away on family camping trips to Wisconsin, where she could connect with loved ones, friends, and nature. Julia was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Mary's in East Moline and later St. John's in Rapids City.

Survivors include her children, Rebecca DeBlaey (Tom Atkinson), Muscatine, IA, Christine (Len) Mendoza, Davenport, IA, Amanda (Brian) Fleming, Davenport, IA Timothy (Debbie) DeBlaey, Moline, IL, David DeBlaey, Herbster, WI, Douglas (Colby) DeBlaey, Rapids City, and Bob (Tara) DeBlaey, Coal Valley, IL; son-in-law, Brian Shelangouski, Klamath Falls, OR; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Theresa (Doug) Wilson, Durant, IA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Julie Shelangouski; and 12 siblings.

Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home, Davenport.
