Julia L. Douglas, 97, formerly of East Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge, IA. There will be no services. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Julia Gridley was born January 29, 1923, in Biggsville, IL, The daughter of Paul and Lydia (Root) Gridley. She was a graduate of Aledo High School. She married Raymond Douglas September 29, 1945, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA. He died March 28, 2014. Julia had worked for the Silvis Post Office for 30 years.

She enjoyed bowling and traveling around the country with her husband and her family. She was an active member of the American Business Women's Association. She volunteered at Illini Hospital Silvis. She had a wicked sense of humor. She loved her grandchildren and would always bring them a gift whenever she visited them.

Survivors include her son, Gary (Patricia) Douglas; Dewitt, IA; grandchildren, Valerie (Alan) McInroy, Shannon Hyde, Nathan (Erin) Douglas and Adam (Angie) Douglas; and great grandchildren, Ian, Rebekah, Maya, Tanner and Mac.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Aldus Gridley, Jeanette Nied, Carlyle Gridley, Willabelle Baugh and her twin brother, Loren Russell Gridley.
