Obituary

Julia Anne Soliz, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. SATURDAY, October 17th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be at St. Mary Cemetery-Mausoleum, East Moline. A Rosary will be recited 3:30 p.m. THURSDAY, October 15th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Born February 22, 1964, in Moline, Illinois, Julia was the daughter of Paul and Rita Soliz. Raised in Silvis, she later moved back to Moline, creating a life centered around faith, family, and service. Julia attended United Township Highschool. She received her certificate in teaching from Black Hawk College.

Her natural gift for nurturing was felt by many during her 18 years as a teacher at the Aldridge Early Learning Center in East Moline. Julia absolutely loved tending to the babies in the infant room, providing a safe, loving start for so many little ones.

A woman of deep and enduring faith, Julia was a dedicated parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. Where she volunteered with Sunday school service.

Julia’s heart was happiest when her home was full. She loved crocheting, cooking large meals and gathering her family around the table, sharing laughter, stories, and love. Being a mother was her pride, and becoming a grandmother was her joy. Every year she looked forward to taking her grandchildren to Florida for spring break, soaking in the sunshine, the happiness of her family and creating lifelong memories.

She is survived by her loving family, who will miss her warmth and her unconditional love.

Julia leaves behind a legacy of devotion, warmth, and faith that will be carried on by her significant other, Santos Salazar, her children, Carolina (Israel) Saguilan, East Moline, IL, Estela Soliz, Moline, IL, Anna (Cristian) Collado, Moline, IL, Julian Soliz, Moline, IL; Her siblings, Paul (Leticia) Soliz, Chicago, IL, Susan (Miguel) Cruz, Sacramento, CA, Phillip (Sarah) Soliz, Sherrard, IL, Angie Sandoval, East Moline, and Valerie (Gerardo) Vargas, East Moline, IL; her cherished grandchildren; Savanah, Isabela, Victoria and Vicente and many extended family members and friends.
