Obituary

Julie Ann Hansen, 90, Moline, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Memorial services are 10 AM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. As per her wishes, her body will be cremated. Private family inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. The family will greet friend and family from 9 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Julie Weimer was born September 20, 1923 in Geneseo, the daughter of Harry and Moneta (Sand) Weimer. Julie graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1941. After graduation, she worked at the Rock Island Telephone office for 3 years as a local and long distance operator, and a junior supervisor. Mrs. Hansen had also worked at Sears in Moline for 16 years in the candy department and as a switchboard operator. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Winchester Hansen on June 10, 1944 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. Mr. Hansen died on November 30, 2001. Julie loved traveling in the family motorhome, together with her late husband Bob, they saw much of this great country. She liked bowling, the out doors, planting flowers, and loved sports, especially football. Julie was a member of the Moline Horticulture Club. Survivors include her children (spouses), Lynn (Leonard) Peterson, East Moline, Chris "Cricky" (Barney) Hurley, Coal Valley, Mary (Florito) Flores, Reno, NV, Susan Chambers, Maquoketa, IA and Steven R. Hansen, Monroe, Wisconsin, fourteen grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and her brother James (Geraldine) Weimer, Geneseo. In addition to her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Anne Hansen Moore.
