Funeral services for Julio C. Castaneda Sr., 89, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 1:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mr, Castaneda died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Genesis, Silvis. Julio was born April 12, 1925, in Newton, KS. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Soledad S. Razo October 2, 1954, in Chicago, IL. She died September 17, 1996. He retired from the former Franciscan Hospital, Rock Island, after many years of service. Survivors include his son, Roberto (Corie) Castaneda, Colona, IL; grandchildren, Austin Posey and AnnaSophia Rose Castaneda; brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, Ann Castaneda and son Julio Castaneda Jr., sisters and brothers. Memorials may be made to the family.
