Funeral services for Junior L. "Casey" Flowers, 84, East Moline at 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Flowers died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his home. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Junior was born October 19, 1925 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Harry and Freeda Shepard Flowers. He married Genieve Thomas on June 10, 1951 at St. Mary's Church, in Centerville, IA. He retired in 1992 from the Moline Dispatch after 38 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan, enjoyed reading James Patterson books, and in earlier years bowling and golfing. Casey served in the Navy during WWII from 1941 until 1946 as a radioman 1st Class. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Genieve, son and daughter-in-law Steven and Chris Flowers, Moline, adopted daughter and her husband, Karen and Vernon Mickeal, Rock Island, and a sister and brother-in-law Louise and Don Hart, West Monroe, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Justin Flowers.
