Karen G. Decker, 85, formerly of Silvis, IL, passed away July 5, 2023, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, IL.

Memorial visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the funeral home, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Karen was born on February 3, 1938, in Granger, Iowa, the daughter of Olaf and Grace Peterson Austin. She married Theodore G. Decker on June 17, 1956, in Madrid, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1992.

Karen graduated with honors/summa cum laude while raising seven children. She was an L.P.N. for many years with Moline Lutheran Hospital and then with several area nursing homes. She will be fondly remembered for her love of Christ, infectious laugh, kindness to others, and many other talents.

She attended Heritage Church, Rock Island. Karen enjoyed reading, bird watching, flowers, and plants. She valued others and was a great listener. She made many crocheted afghan blankets and quilts which she donated to hospitals and missionaries.

Surviving are her children, Tom Decker, Milan, IL, Dave (Carla) Decker, Scottsdale, AZ, Bill Decker, Colona, IL, Dan (Shelly) Decker, Colona, IL and Mary Kaye (Matt) Podschweit, Colorado Springs, CO; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, DeDe Decker and Barb Decker; grandson, Nick Decker, and sisters, Darlene and Doris.
