IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Hignight
September 3, 2017
Karen Lee Hignight, 78, entered her eternal home on Sunday, September 3, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her great love for her family and her relationship with her Savior gave her comfort and peace throughout her distress. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Wildwood Church, East Moline. Private committal services will be held at Roselawn Cemetery. Karen was born May 2, 1939, the daughter of the late Ivan and Mildred Nelson. She graduated from United Township High school in 1957. She married her childhood sweetheart, Ken Hignight, on July 30, 1960. They were blessed with three children, and touched many people's lives around them. She will be dearly missed by many. We celebrate that she is now at peace and with her Savior and reunited with her husband. Karen and Ken entered the family business, Hignight's Florist, and after 23 years of service they retired in 2005. They loved serving their community and were blessed by the friendships they formed through the flower shop and greenhouses. Karen is survived by her children Karla (Ray) Husted, Kara (Dave) Bugos, Ken (Tiffani) Hignight; dozens of grandchildren, plethora of great grandchildren (more expected); and her sister, Dolores Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and best friend; sister, Darlene Garrison; brother, Darrald "Buster" Nelson; great-grandchildren, Avery Reyes and Michael Beauregard. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
