Funeral services for Karen Kerckhove, 58, of Aurora, IL, formerly of East Moline, IL will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Karen passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Provena McAuley Manor, Aurora, IL. In lieu of flowers donations in Karen's memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society, PO box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718. Karen was born September 20, 1950 in Moline, IL the daughter of Marcel and Helen (VandenBerghe) Kerckhove. Karen was a teacher for the West Aurora School District and a sales associate for Mark Shale in Oakbrook, IL. Prior to teaching, she had been a photographer for over 25 years for The Beacon News. Karen was a member of Holy Angels Church in Aurora. She was an active volunteer and served on the Board of Directors at Hesed House in Aurora. She is survived by her 10 year companion, Richard Perna of Elmhurst, IL; her mother, Helen Kerckhove of East Moline, IL; one sister, Jean (Paul) Carlson of East Lansing, MI; one brother, L. Richard Kerckhove of St. Louis, MO; and one niece, Katherine Carlson of Brooklyn, NY. She was preceded in death by her father, Marcel Kerckhove.
