Funeral services for Katherine M. "Granny" Engel, 92, formerly of Colona, IL, will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to services. Graveside committal services will be held in Gettysburg, S.D. Mrs. Engel died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Hillcrest Home Geneseo, IL. Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Home Activities Fund. Katherine Wolff was born November 25, 1918 in Meadow, S.D., the daughter of Edward and Louise Seidel Wolff. She married Vincent M. Engel April 4, 1942 in Gettysburg, S.D. He died August 17, 1979. She had worked at the former Ken's Texaco, Colona. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Dianne (Steve) Taylor of Shoshoni, WY, Camille (Sam) Maness of Forest City, NC, Valerie (Kenton) Spindler of Geneseo, Crystal (Nick) Bown of Pierre, S.D.; sons, Leo (Judy) Engel of Cedar Rapids, IA, Leland Engel of St. Charles, IL, Steven Engel of Herreid, S.D., Donovan (Cindy) Engel of Colona, James (Jody) Engel of Colona; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Stanley of Albuquerque N.M.; brother, Adolph Wolff of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law, Delores Wolff of Spokane Valley, WA, Jackie Wolff Littleton, CO, and Alice Wolff of Davenport, IA; brother-in-law, Charles Johnson of Mays Landing, N.J. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Quinton Engel, grandson, Steven Taylor, sisters, Evelyn Dickhaut, Esther Schatz, Lillian Schroeder, Lucille Johnson and Shirley Kleeman, brothers, Carl, David, Reinholdt, Edward, Robert, and Clifford Wolff, and daughter-in-law Alice Engel.
