Katherine L. Runburg, 73, Moline, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 after a short illness. Visitation will be from 2 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 7th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport, at a later date. Memorials may be made to RICCA or the Child Abuse Council, Moline. Kathy (Bjork) Runburg was born on December 30, 1941 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Elliott and Elizabeth (Chase) Bjork. She was married to John Runburg from 1960 to 1977. Katherine worked for IBM for many years, and later for Rock Island County, Zoning and Building. In her early years she sang with Sweet Adelines and later volunteered with RICCA, Friends of the Rock Island Public Library, The Moline Township Senior Center, The Child Abuse Council, The Quad City Botanical Center, and MADD. Kathy had a passion for NASCAR and enjoyed following the accomplishments of her favorite drivers. Kathy is survived by her best friend Charlie; her children, Kirsten Runburg, Moline, Jon (Lisa) Runburg, Gilbert, AZ, Gregg (Jan Bonavia) Runburg, Flossmoor, IL, Kurt Runburg, Park City, UT and Amy Deaton-Allman (Ric Allman), Moline; her grandchildren, Cindy (Brian) Adams, Koryn (James) Boehm, Melissa (Jeff) Schoonover, Allison Deaton, Nick Deaton, Elliott Runburg, Riley Runburg, Jack Runburg, Kevin Runburg, Evan Runburg, Ethan Runburg, Haley Spinks, Matt (Lizz) Richter and Ashley Richter; her great-grandchildren, Landon, Maci, Chloe, Rylee, Nathan, and Natalie; her sister, Karen (Gregg) Neiman, Deerfield, IL; her uncle, Fred Chase, Ann Arbor, MI; her niece Kate (Eric) Neiman Joyce and nephew Jake (Jackie) Neiman; and John and Cathy Runburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and long time companion Don Tomsha.
