Kenneth G. Collis Sr., 79, formerly of Colona, IL, passed away at Harbor Crest Home in Fulton, IL, August 6, 2007. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. Funeral services will be 10:00AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Dayton Corners in Colona, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Harbor Crest Home, Fulton. Kenneth was born March 4, 1928, to Charles and Flora (Walther) Collis. He was united in marriage to Delores Ann Ponce on Oct. 12, 1946. She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1994. Kenny was a veteran, serving in WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 1233 in Colona. He retired from International Harvester on June 1, 1981, working on the shear line, Dept 47, after 33 years. He was a member of UAW Local 1304. Kenny was an avid fisherman, gardener and card player. He enjoyed being around his family and was always there to lend a helping hand. Survivors include: sons, Kenneth G. Collis Jr, and wife Debra of Erie, IL, Michael J. Collis and wife Janice of East Moline, IL; daughters, Judith Ann Cook of Summerfield, FL, Kay Ann Jacobs and fiancé Bob Brown, of Erie, Sue Ann Ohrberg and Husband Kenneth of Colona; 5 grandsons, Shane Jacobs of Morrison, IL, Travis Jacobs of Cordova, IL, Jason Collis, Darren Jacobs, and Troy Jacobs all of Erie; 5 granddaughters, Amber Sherrell of Erie, Tami Wilson, Melissa and Deanna Ohrberg all of Colona, Jami Barden of East Moline, 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Lyle Collis of Coal Valley, Robert Collis of East Moline, Jack Collis of Colona, David Collis of East Moline; sisters, Midge Cator of Moline, Edna Daniels of East Moline. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Eldon and Darrell, and a sister Dorothy, and infant son, Ricky and daughter, Janie, son-in-law, Danny Jacobs. The family would like to thank the staff at Harbor Crest Home for their wonderful care of our Dad this past year.
