Obituary

Kenneth D. Coverdill, 64, Coal Valley, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. A celebration of Ken's Life will be held from 3 until 5 PM Sunday April 19, 2015 in the Orchard Dining Room at the Lighthouse of Silvis, 1900 10th Street, Silvis. The celebration will continue as his family will proceed to Harley's Tavern, 3127 Avenue of the Cities, Moline for a continuing of sharing memories and stories. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Quad Cities. Ken was born on January 8, 1951 in Waterloo, IA, the son of Bob and Betty Coverdill. He graduated from Moline High School, class of 1969. During his senior year, Ken ranked #1 in the State of Illinois for wrestling, and the Varsity Football team was undefeated. He retired as a welder from the former Case IH, East Moline in 2001. He married the love of his life and High School Sweetheart on September 27, 2002 in Moline. Ken enjoyed the sport of hunting deer and pheasant. He was passionate about wrestling, having coached little children and even formed his own youth wrestling club. Ken always enjoyed attending his kids and later his grandchildren's sporting events. He was thrilled recently to have his grandson Chance take 5th place in High School wrestling for the state of Iowa. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife Sherry, their blended family, Stacey (Danny) Carey, Bettendorf, Melanie Durbin, Moline, Brett (Jen) Coverdill, Moline, Kyle Coverdill (Allyson Whipple) Moline, Jeff Anderson (Angie Winger), Orion, Jeremy (Sari) Anderson, Apple Valley, MN, Justin (Stacy) Anderson, East Moline, and Sue-Ella (Jed) Mathis, Port Byron, thirteen grandchildren, and siblings, Cheryl (Dennis) Johnson, Sherrard, Linda (Edward) Claeys, East Moline, Carey Coverdill, East Moline, Brock (Ruth) Coverdill, Port Byron and sister-in-law Debbie Coverdill, Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob Jr. The family would like to thank the Lighthouse of Silvis, Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House and Genesis Hospice for their loving care.
