Kenneth L. Guldenpfennig, 94, of Moline, died Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at home. A funeral service will be 10 am Friday, October 28, 2022 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Services will be live-streamed by visiting https://vimeo.com/762427117. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials in care of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Kenneth was born on January 30, 1928 in Moline, Ill., a son of Clarence and Gladys Jacobs Guldenpfennig. He graduated from Moline High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he received the WWII Victory Medal. Ken and Dianne married on December 9, 1966 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline.
Kenneth was manager of Moline Building Center for many years. Ken and Dianne owned and operated Pleasant Ridge Resort and Maplewood Resort, both in Minnesota.
Kenneth was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, where he previously served as an elder. He was past president of the Moline Kiwanis Club. He was a member of numerous clubs including the East End Club and The Club (Travel).
His hobbies included golf, rolle bolle, traveling and painting. Some of his favorite memories included time with family, traveling, spending time at his fishing resorts, golfing and times spent with friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dianne Guldenpfennig, Moline; children, Vicki (Kevin) Roukey, Sparks, Nev., Craig "Pete" (Ruth) Guldenpfennig, San Antonio, Texas, Dawn (Jeff) Woodworth, Davenport, Iowa and Traci (Darryl) Devries, Breman, Ind.; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Joan Ritze, Chesterfield, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and many other close friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, and a granddaughter.
