Funeral services for Kenneth F. Liedtke, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Full Gospel Church of God, East Moline. Burial will be in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona, IL. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Liedtke went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 16, 2007. He was surrounded by his family and he slipped away peacefully at the conclusion of his favorite hymn, In the Garden. A memorial fund has been established for the Church Youth at Full Gospel Church of God. Mr. Liedtke was born September 27, 1919 in Colona, IL, the son of Frank and Martha (Schroeder) Liedtke. He married Vurl Nicely October 21, 1939 in Clinton, IA. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He had worked at the former Oberleander Sand Company, Colona, for 20 years. He then worked for John Deere Harvester, East Moline for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was proud of working at John Deere, which could be seen by his collection of John Deere Memorabilia. He had been a very active member of Full Gospel Church, constantly behind the scene making sure everything went well. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was lovingly known as "grandpa" to all the children of the church. Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Rev. Vurl Liedtke of East Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joseph Simonich of Geneseo, IL; granddaughter and spouse, Rev. Cassie and Stephen Campbell of Silvis, IL. He is preceded in death by his: parents; son, Little Kenny; a brother; 2 sisters and a nephew.
