Funeral services for Kenneth L. Phillips Jr., 56, Fulton, IL formerly of Rochelle and East Moline, are 1PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the East Moline American Legion Post 227. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Ken passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 25, 1950 in Rochelle, IL, the son of Kenneth and Doris (Mittan) Phillips Sr. He graduated from High School in 1969 and entered into the US Army serving in the Vietnam War, while in the service Kenny received the Purple Heart. He worked at the Chrysler Plant in Belvedere IL, before moving to East Moline where he went to work at Montgomery Elevator in Moline. Most recently he worked for the Corp of Engineers as the Lock and Dam #13 Operator, retiring in October of 2006. He married Mary Lauff Haverand on July 1, 2005 in Morrison. Ken enjoyed drag racing, woodworking and camping. Survivors include his wife Mary, stepchildren Julie Haverand, Sterling, IL, and Gregory Haverand, Dixon, grandchildren Helen and Ben, his mother Doris Lutz, East Moline, sister Linda Lewis, Mt. Morris, IL, brothers Pressley Sisco, Fulton, Wesley Phillips, Coal Valley, Clyde Phillips, East Moline and Joe Sisco, East Moline and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ken will be especially missed by Precious, Patches, Soxy and Buffy
