Funeral services for Kenneth "Pete" Rieger, 87, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Rieger died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice. Pete was born January 30, 1919 in Manchester, IA, the son of Jack and Maude (Burch) Rieger. He married Darlene Derr in 1946 in Arkansas. He later married Cathy Finch May 31, 1968 in East Moline. Mr. Rieger joined the US Navy in February of 1942. He was stationed on Midway and the Hawaiian Islands. He had worked for the former International Harvester, East Moline, for 30 years, retiring in 1978. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling around the United States, including Alaska. He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, cards, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family. Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Cathy Rieger; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Dave Wayne, Rebecca and Steve Sloan, MaryLee and John Hazen; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken "Butch" and Janette Rieger, Ron Rieger, Tim Finch; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Foster and Lorraine King.
