Funeral services for Lanny Ross, 72, Moline, are 10 AM Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a Rosary recited at 4PM. Graveside services are 9 AM Monday, December 24, 2007 at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Anyone wishing to attend services at the cemetery should be at the funeral home by 8:30 AM Monday. Mr. Ross passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at his home, with his family at his side, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Church where he was a member. Lanny was born February 15, 1935 in Davenport, IA, the son of Frank and Katherine (Ronateschek) Ross. He married Barbara Wassenhove on April 30, 1960 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He served in the US Army. He retired in 1993 as a die sinker from the Rock Island Arsenal. Lanny enjoyed fishing, reading and golfing, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Lanny is survived by his wife of 47 years Barb, children and their spouses Karen and Mark McFarland, East Moline and Mary Ann and Scott Davison, Coal Valley, grandchildren; Nathan Lamantia, Alyssa Lamantia, Christopher McFarland, and Emily and Molly Davison, and a brother and sister-in-law David and Myrtle Ross, Moline. He is preceded in death by an infant son Michael.
