Larry C. "Animal" McNew Jr., 68, Hampton, IL, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Genesis Illini, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Hampton Township Cemetery, Hampton. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.

Larry was born on March 28, 1953 in Moline , the son of Larry C. and Virginia (Wangelin) McNew Sr. He married Jeanne Bussert on January 9, 1982 in Rock Island. He worked 31 years, retiring in 1999 from John Deere Foundry. His devotion to John Deere was unwavering. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and working around the house. Animal was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He was an excellent cook and a grill master. He was a former member and trustee of Green Rock Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne, daughters, Tara (John) Smith, Colona, and Amy McNew, Rock Island, grandchildren; Ricky, John, Noah, Adriana, Jedidiah, Jasmine, Anthony, Zaymya, and Truvonn, great granddaughter, Gideon, his mother, Virginia, East Moline and siblings, Jim (Julie) McNew, Moline, Charlie (Chris) Wangelin, Hampton, Lisa (Terry) Thomas, Moline and Shawn McNew, NY

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry.
