Funeral services for Larry "Smiley" Snyder, 68 of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL, where military honors will be conducted by the East Moline American Legion Post #227. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. Snyder died Friday, July 8, 2005 at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Hospice House. Larry was born March 8, 1937 in Moline, IL, the son of Lawerence and Virginia (Carlile) Snyder. He married Katherine Huff Lenth May 18, 1963 in East Moline, IL. He resided all his life in East Moline and graduated from United Township High school in 1955. After graduation he went to work for International Harvester/ Case IH, retiring in 1991. He Later worked for Lujack's Northpark Auto Plaza. Larry served in the United States Army for three years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and belonged to the Rock Island Chapter S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., he enjoyed golf, bowling and woodworking. Survivors include: his wife Kathy, daughter and son-in-law, JoAnna and Doug Deffenbaugh of Pawnee, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Julie Snyder of East Moline, Tim and Sharon Snyder of Colona, IL, Kerry and Angie Snyder of Batavia, IL; 13 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Lily Ann and David Howell, Hampton, IL; many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnna.
