LaVerne "Vern" Carlsen, 83, of East Moline, IL, born September 3, 1926 in Moline, IL, loving father of Flycka (Gerald) Haskins of East Moline and Lynn (Bethany) Carlsen of Sebastian, FL; loving grandfather of, Carlsen Vern Haskins and Lane Frank Haskins; has been reunited with his parents, Alfred Carlsen and Alvera (Anderson) Carlsen, his wife, Lois J. (Roehrs) Carlsen, and his sister, Corlie Robinson, in heaven June 20, 2010. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Services to join together and celebrate his life will be 10:00AM Thursday at the 1st Baptist Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the 1st Baptist Church, East Moline or the American Heart Association. He had served in the US Navy during WWII. He had worked for Dimock & Gould also known as The Wholesale Distributing Company, Moline, in business management for nearly 49 years, retiring in 1994. He had been a long time member of 1st Baptist Church, East Moline. He enjoyed walking 3-4 miles each day. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons.
