Lawrence C. Thompson III, 74, of Carbon Cliff, passed away July 9, 2024, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am, on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Military honors will be performed at the cemetery. Those wishing to attend services will meet at Van Hoe Funeral Home, at 9:30 am to join the procession to the cemetery.

Lawrence was born December 2, 1949, in Hammond, IN, the son of Lawrence Sr and Juanita (Fuller) Thompson. Lawrence served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1970. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and watching his favorite John Wayne Westerns.

He is survived by his wife, Tirsa; children, Michelle (Michael) Pedersen and Mellissa (Eric) Meyer; and 5 grandchildren.
