Lawrence R Tiernan of Lakewood, CO, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011. Larry was born August 2, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate of St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the State of Arizona. He was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam and an active member of the Amvets, Disabled American Veteran's (Commander's Club), Sons of Norway, as well as the Jeffco Democratics. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Genevieve (O'Neill) Tiernan. He is survived by his beloved partner, Barbara Bessesen and her family, and his brother Bill (Mary) Tiernan of East Moline, IL, niece Molly (PJ) Foley and nephew Michael Tiernan both of Illinois. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 21 at 11:30 AM at Aspen Funeral Home's Lakewood Chapel, 1350 Simms St., Lakewood. Viewing one hour prior to service. Interment Ft. Logan Cemetery 1:00 PM, Area "A". In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veteran's, Alleman High School, or St. Ambrose University.
