Funeral services for Leanna Joy Wells, 89, Osco, IL, are 5PM Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, East Moline. Visitation is from 3PM until service time. Private family committal will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Moline, at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. John's Church, where she was a member. Leanna died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her home. Leanna Holstlaw was born on February 8, 1922 in Terril, IA, the daughter of Carlton and Emma (Petersen) Holstlaw. She married James Wells on August 25, 1941 in Missouri. He died March 4, 1988. Leanna had worked at John Deere during WWII, later at Fresh-Pak Candy, Moline, Boetje Mustard Co., and as an LPN at the former St. Anthony's Hospital Rock Island and Lutheran Hospital, Moline. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, the Munson Club, and served as past President of the VFW 8890 Women's Auxiliary. Leanna enjoyed auctions, yard sales and traveling. Survivors include her children and spouses: Lamont and Sherry Wells, Combined Locks, WI, Virgil Wells, Osco, Emily and Bill Raes, Orion and Joyce and Larry McClimans, Blue Grass, IA, eleven grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, a sister Bonnie (Bob) Long, Riverbend, NC, and a brother Bernard (Betty) Holstlaw, Rapids City, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Mark, an infant sister and a brother Virgil.
