Lee Barnes, 68, East Moline, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island. Graveside services are 1:30 PM Thursday at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct Military Honors. Anyone wishing to attend services should meet at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline by 1:00PM. Memorials may be made to the VA Hospital, Iowa City, IA Lee was born March 11, 1943 in Sunbright, TN, the son of Zeaman and Anna (Pearson) Barnes. Mr. Barnes retired as a fork lift driver from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He and his first wife Carol Barnes had one daughter, Carly. He later married Betty Letterman on May 16, 1991 in Rock Island. He enjoyed doing crafts and was quite the artist. He served in the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Betty, daughter Carly (Mark) Sanders, Davenport, step children; Yvonne Serrano, Colona, Annette Stanley, Moline and Paul Letterman, East Moline, 2 step grandchildren and a step great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and 2 brothers.
