Funeral services for Lee "Brick" Van Dyke, 87, of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of East Moline will be 11:00 AM Monday, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery, Ottumwa, IA at a later date. Mr. Van Dyke died Friday, November 9, 2007 at Bettendorf Health Care, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. Mr. Van Dyke was born December 28, 1919 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Lee and Hadassa (Sidebottom) Van Dyke. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Elaine Bartlett September 5, 1942. He retired after 30 years of service from the John Deere Foundry, where he had been a foreman of the Carpenter Shop. He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ottumwa. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He loved his family. Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Elaine Van Dyke of Bettendorf; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Max Grooms of Hudson, FL, Nancy and Steve Butler of Davenport, IA, Sue Ann and Ken Bivens of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Chris Grooms, Stacey Herr, and Brittany Amerine; 4 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Joe Coughlin of Hudson, WI; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Max and Marvin Van Dyke, sister-in-law, Katie Van Dyke.
